Mander began at a kitchen table, long before there was ever a vineyard. I grew up between two worlds: a Punjabi home where the gatherings never wanted to end, and the Italian tables that taught me a bottle of wine is really an invitation, a way of saying sit down, stay a while.
Our kitchen was always warm with cumin and cardamom and cinnamon, and to this day it is that same warm spice, caught in a glass of Pinot Noir, that carries me straight back to it.
Somewhere young, a glass of red became my shorthand for staying, for the evenings nobody wanted to end. I held onto that feeling for years. And in time, holding it was no longer enough. I wanted to make something of my own from it, something that drew both of my worlds into one glass, something that was unmistakably mine.
I didn't inherit a vineyard. At twenty-five, I had no idea where to begin, only books, questions, and an idea too stubborn to let go of. So I began anyway, one barrel at a time.
“Every bottle is a bridge between where I come from and the land that raised me.”
Today, Mander is one hundred cases of certified-organic Pinot Noir from a single vineyard on the Lincoln Lakeshore, hand-picked, aged in French oak, and made with my own two hands at every step. I'm there for all of it, from the fruit at Laundry Vineyard to the last bottle off the line.
Mander isn't just a wine. It's something I'm building to last.
